On the edge of Rhossili Bay, Wales

You know I have to be a difficult person when I insist on making my legal last name “Loviza Vickery,” since apparently I didn’t think my maiden name was difficult enough.
I graduated from Western Kentucky University with degrees in news-editorial journalism and Spanish, and began my journalism career at the Glasgow Daily Times in Glasgow, Ky., where I covered everything from agriculture to healthcare to courts. My most high profile stories were my coverage of the 2013 federal trial of the Barren County Sheriff and other law enforcement officers. However, my favorite stories were those I wrote about our local veterans, particularly World War II vets, and our farmers, whom I adore.
I am not a Kentucky girl, despite my education and first job. Born in North Carolina, graduated high school in Virginia and squeezed California, Maryland and Tennessee into the intervening years, I call nowhere and everywhere home.
I was blessed to meet Dave Vickery during my time as a Hilltopper, and we married in 2012. Lucky for me, he loves traveling about as much as I do, and it took us about five weeks of marriage to decide we would move abroad in 2013.
After two and a half years of making waves in Glasgow, Dave and I are heading out in July 2013 to complete a two-month cross country road trip before taking one-way flights to the UK. We hope to wander our way through the British Isles and other parts of Europe for about a year before trying to anchor ourselves anywhere [hopefully in the UK].
Since I don’t know what to do with myself when I’m not writing or taking photos, I will continue to do both throughout our wanderings. If I’m lucky, I’ll even turn it into some legitimate freelance work. But if I don’t, this cheerful gypsy blog will seek to entertain you with tales of adventure and exploration [and most likely a mishap or two].
